From The Pastors Pen - "Faith-Life"

The Scriptures tell us in Hebrews 11 that faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Faith is that thing which ushers us into the very presence of God and brings us face-to-face with our Maker. Faith is not a goal but a means to receive and experience who God is and what He has for us. A person should not say that they want to be a person of great faith so everyone will say, “Look at his or her faith. Isn’t it great?” Rather we should say, “I want to have great faith so that I can know God better and experience Him more in my life.”

Abraham was called by God to be the father of a special people, to walk off a promised land for his descendants, and to experience such a relationship with God that he would be called the Friend of God and the Father of the Faithful. How did Abraham actually experience all those things that God had planned for him? Well, he heard God; he believed God and went out in faith. Faith is an action verb. It requires us to do something. Do you have faith in God? What are you believing God for right now? What are you doing right now in your life that can’t be done without God? Remember, it is the evidence of things not seen! What is the evidence that you are living by faith? Faith evidences itself in commitment, trust, obedience, surrender, self-denial, sacrifice, and love of God. The faith-life brings us into a relationship with God where He is our Life! Faith is not something you just talk about. It is something you do. So let’s just do it!

Those who trust in the Lord are steady as Mount Zion, unmoved by any circumstance. Just as the mountains surround and protect Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds and protects his people. Psalms 125:1:2.

Isn’t it great to trust the Lord? For we know that no matter what our circumstance is (even when we feel it is as large as a mountain and we are unable to climb it) God has surrounded us and is protecting us.

It’s good to have Janice and Charles Gallaway home from their trip. Hope they stay awhile, but we aer glad they are able to travel.

We had 19 people present at the adult luncheon in April. Hope you can come to the May luncheon on May 12th. We have a great time visiting and eating. It’s a good place to get acquainted with others.
